Marriage Enrichment

Leaders: Ministers Tony & Kim Dargin

Pre Martial Foundation Scriptures

"But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;  and they two (twain) shall be one flesh; so then they are no more two (twain), but one flesh.  What therefore God had joined together, let not man put asunder."    Mark 10:6-9

The purpose of this ministry is to guide couples into the key biblical passages on the subject of marriage.  We are called the bride of Christ, as Christ relates to his relationship to the church, as one of being married.  We will study what the Bible says the relationship between the husband and the wife and the family.  God's plan for man and woman is for them to marry and stay together.  Our desire should always be to seek God and His way of doing things.

Key Scriptures:  Mark 10:6-9; Matthew 6:33

Pre-Martial Requirement:

Pre-Martial Counseling Classes (Engaged couples): Bishop Wallace has made completion of pre-marital counseling    (6 classes total) a requirement for couples seeking to get married at Oasis Christian Church. Please do not set a wedding date prior to the completion of this course. The reason for this is there may be areas that are uncovered during the course of the class that couples may need to address or correct before getting married. Your desire should be to make sure you are ready for marriage before setting the date. The counseling session is a pre-requisite for marriage; it is not a guarantee that you will be married by Bishop Wallace. God’s Word exhorts us to be wise about our expectations for marriage and wise about whom we let into our hearts. Objectives of the Marriage Enrichment Sessions:

  • To evaluate the basis for your marriage
  • To cultivate true spiritual intimacy through your study, discussion, and prayer together
  • To surface and eliminate potential problems
  • To equip you with biblical principles that will enable you to cope with problems in your marriage

All engaged couples are required to purchase, “Preparing for Your Marriage” book, which is available in OCC’s bookstore for $15. Couples must read & complete each assignment together and bring completed assignments to the session for discussion.
